Januar S. was born in Surabaya in the years of 1955. Learn to painting in a very early age, since 1963. When he was 12 years old, he’s interested to paint about Legong Dancer which is known as the most famous dance from Bali Island.

After graduated from Junior High School, Januar Santoso got a job as a movie poster painter. He did this profession for about 15 years and has been a manager in one of the Poster Studio in Jakarta.

Since 1985 he’s totally concern to paint fine arts quality of painting on canvases with using the best arts material. In 1990 moved and lived to the Island of God – Bali. In 1994 he had his first SOLO EXHIBITION in Kumala Café, Ubud – Bali and Legong Dancer was the main subject in his paintings.

In the years of 2000 moved to Batu – Malang, in 2004 his second SOLO Exhibition was hold in Redtop Hotel, Jakarta.

Januar always pray and thanks to god and also always practicing do some experiment to improve his painting skill.
